Security Officer Training Courses

National Protective Services Institute (NPSI) employs experienced and committed instructors to conduct education and training of Security Officers who are serious about their profession. If you are looking for cheap, or just to get by, keep surfing. At NPSI, certification is through TRAINING, not attending! These programs teach individuals with little or no previous experience the basic principals of security using the Texas required materials for Level II, Level III, and Level IV courses, and the IFPO required materials for the CPO and CSSM courses.  In addition, NPSI uses an original program for the Defensive Driving for Security Officers course. Level I Security Officer Training is no longer required by the TX DPS PSB.

 

Level II Security Officer Training (20 hours)  $100.00

This course far exceeds the Level II training and certification as required by the State of Texas.

 

Level III Security Officer Training (30 hours)  $150.00

This course provides the Level II and III training and certification as required by the State of Texas, including both classroom and firearms range qualification. This is the certification required for all Commissioned Officers (Armed Security Officers). You need 150 rounds of handgun ammunition. If qualifying on the 12 gauge, 2 3/4", chamber shotgun, you need 9 rounds of 00 Buck. We prefer you bring the firearm(s) you will carry on duty, but we have firearms for rent*. For a $25 up-charge and a little extra time, you may get your Texas Concealed Handgun License or NRA Basic Pistol training as well.

*Ammunition is included in the rental fee. Handguns are 9mm at $70 and shotgun rental is $40.

 

Level III Security Officer Renewal/Recertification (10-12 hours)  $95.00

This course provides the recertification as required by the State of Texas, for renewal of a Level III Security Officer Commission. You must pass the written exam. You need 150 rounds of handgun ammunition. If qualifying on the shotgun, you need 9 rounds of 00 Buck. We prefer you bring the firearm(s) you will carry on duty, but we have firearms for rent*. For a $25 up-charge and a little extra time, you may get your Texas Concealed Handgun License or NRA Basic Pistol training as well.

Level IV Security Officer Training/Introduction to Protective Services (45 hours)  $500.00

This course provides the Level IV training and certification as required by the State of Texas, plus much more.  Please see the description under the "Dignitary Protection" page.  This is the certification required for all Personal Protection Officers (PPOs). You must have a current Level III Security Officer Commission.

 

Certified Protection Officer Training (40 hours)  $250.00

This course provides the training necessary to earn the internationally recognized designation of Certified Protection Officer (CPO) through the International Foundation for Protection Officers.  This program of instruction is extensively above and beyond the requirements of the State of Texas.

 

Security Supervision and Management Program (40 hours)  $250.00

This course provides the training necessary to earn the internationally recognized designation of Certified Security Supervision and Management (CSSM) through the International Foundation for Protection Officers.  This program of instruction is extensively above and beyond the requirements of the State of Texas. 

 

Defensive Driving for the Security Officer (4 hours)  $40.00

This course introduces the student to the concepts of safe driving, including vehicle inspections, accident avoidance, alertness, speed management, space management, night driving, adverse weather driving, driving emergencies, and accident procedures.  It also discusses the special considerations for driving a marked security patrol vehicle, including legalities for equipment uses on public and private property.
